Letters – The Hudson Independent Delivers Quality Journalism

• Bookmarks: 110

November 1, 2018

To the Editor:

I moved to Kendal on Hudson from Brooklyn in late March and was immediately struck by the quality of The Hudson Independent.  Brooklyn also has a free newspaper (The Brooklyn Paper) with various editions offering “special” reporting on happenings in localities. The same publishing company also issues another weekly newspaper, Life Courier, which carries the identical articles but different photos.  In contrast to The Hudson Independent journalists, The Brooklyn Paper reporters seem to vie with each other in coming up with exaggerated language, and I used to call the paper “the rag.”

I thank you for your high standards and your reporters for using a clear, fluid, and unadorned style and proper use of the English language. I’ve learned much about my new surroundings in the months living at Kendal.
