Sunday, February 5 at 1:30 pm/ The Black History Month Art Exhibit And Piano Concert/ The concert begins at 1:30 PM, featuring the Brice Buchanan Trio, followed by the Library’s Annual Black History Month Art Exhibit from 2:30-4:00 PM. Both programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments included.

 

Tuesday, February 7at 7 pm/ Why do lovers send greeting cards, candy, and roses on February 14? In his newest holiday program, author, photographer, and musician Kevin Woyce explores the romantic history of Valentine’s Day, from Saint Valentine, Cupid, and the first Valentine cards to some of the season’s most popular songs. Saturday, February 11 at 2 pm/ “They Paved Paradise, Put Up A Power Plant” – Visual Presentation with Brian Vangor, author of Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant published by Arcadia Press, Images of America Series. Vangor, a longtime employee of the various operators of the nuclear plant, unlocks an archive of more than 100 photos that chronicle the construction of the plant. Each photo is accompanied by a narrative that gives the reader a sense of the historic nature of the building of the country’s first nuclear power plant. Held on the 3rd floor.

Wednesday, February 15, 6 pm – 7 pm/ Virtual Tour of African Burial Ground National Monument in celebration of Black History Month. The African Burial Ground National Monument is at Duane Street and African Burial Ground Way in the Civic Center section of Lower Manhattan.
