Come to a virtual lecture on Cornelius Vanderbilt!

Cornelius Vanderbilt began operating his own ferry in NY Harbor at the age of 16. He would work from dawn until dark. His tiny business would grow into a massive steamship company, and Vanderbilt would undercut his competitors by pricing his services so low that he would drive them out of business. Eventually he built a railroad empire from New York to Chicago and the First Grand Central Station at 42nd St.

Lecturer Rick Feingold teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College.

Mary’s Yarns Quilting Group

The quilting, as well as the knitting and crocheting groups, of Mary’s Yarns will be meeting from 6:00pm-7:00pm on the first and third Monday of every month via Zoom until further notice. In February the third Monday falls on Presidents’ Day, so the meeting will rescheduled.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation in different ways – in-person, low-contact, or contact-free – depending on what service is available in your area. To find in-person locations, please check out their website! Reservations are generally required due to Covid-19.

The Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library will not be holding our Valentine Plant and
Bake Sale due to the continued concerns around Covid-19.

However, the Friends will be holding a Book and Craft Sale on Sunday, April 24

Virtual Comedy Open Mic
Tuesdays, February 1 & March 1, 8:00 PM
Following a traditional Comedy Open Mic format, comedians new and old — who want to work on new jokes, change old jokes, or just experiment — sign up and get 5 minutes apiece to perform via our Online Meeting Room.

Creative Writing Workshop
