AS PROMISED, STATE TESTING GOES INTO HIGH GEAR

• Bookmarks: 46

April 25, 2020

After sorting things out with Washington, Governor Andrew Cuomo has launched all the testing he promised last week. Over the weekend, he signed an Executive Order allowing some 5,000 pharmacies in the state to conduct diagnostic testing and work with the state to build a network capable of handling capacity.

Then he authorized antibody testing—first for frontline healthcare workers in New York City’s four main hospitals and medical centers and then, starting next week, for all transit workers and first responders.

Going into the weekend, an additional 10,553 new infections brought the total to 282,143. With the ramping up of testing, those numbers are likely to increase significantly.
