Almost every evening accidents take place somewhere in Greenburgh, Westchester or NY because pedestrians are walking and wearing dark clothing. It’s difficult for motorists to spot these individuals during the night if they are not using reflectors, walking with lights on near their bodies or wearing bright clothing. Over the years there have been local pedestrian accidents in our communities that probably could have been avoided if motorists would have been able to spot the pedestrians. Sadly, some pedestrians have died -hit by cars..
During the past ten years the Town of Greenburgh has been distributing free reflectors to residents. We have distributed thousands of reflectors. Sometimes when I’m driving and see a pedestrian who is wearing dark cloths I stop my car and even offer the resident a reflector. Reflectors can be picked up at the lobby of Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave, White Plains during working hours and when there are evening meetings at Town Hall. Using a reflector when walking at night can save your life.
Be safe. Be careful. And, spread the word to family and friends.
