Halloween in Lyndhurst’s Landscape

Looking for a family-friendly and safe outdoor activity for Halloween? New this year, Lyndhurst has installed seven artistic Halloween vignettes in the landscape around the mansion. These witch and skeleton-themed stations, created by designer and fabricator RCS Fine Art, include Glinda and Elphaba, a brace of skeleton horses and groves of witches under a majestic weeping beech tree. These are interspersed in the landscape near the mansion and combine seasonal decorations with an exploration of one of the most interesting parts of the estate, including the children’s playhouse, fountains and recently restored benches.

The fun starts Friday, October 9 and lasts through Sunday, November 1. A map of the stations will help visitors determine which entry to begin at and where the photo opportunities are.

The artistic installations are best for younger children or adults and are generally not scary. Kids in costume will have multiple opportunities for excellent holiday photos. Free to visitors entering on foot. Entry to Lyndhurst by vehicle requires purchase of a Daily Grounds Pass or landscape tour.

While viewing the decor is free, those driving must purchase a Daily Grounds Pass to enter and park at Lyndhurst. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Tour ticket holders do not need to purchase a Daily Grounds Pass for the day of their tour.

Family and Accessibility

Lyndhurst welcomes all visitors, and we have ADA accessible paths on our lower landscape. This year’s outdoor decor is appropriate for children 7 years and older.

Please respect all grounds signage and adhere to social distancing recommendations. You are required to wear a mask when interacting with Lyndhurst staff.
