Harriman’s Incline Railroad – In this virtual lecture, Hudson Valley historian and lecturer Alex Prizgintas will discuss the Harriman Incline Railway. Built by railroad tycoon Edward Henry Harriman for his estate, Arden House, Harriman’s Incline Railway is both a significant facet of local railroad history and served one of the Hudson Valley’s largest industrial endeavors. Saturday, January 21 at 2 PM/ -Local filmmaker Jon Scott Bennett will present his extraordinary documentary, “The Pound Ridge Massacre, A Dark Chapter in Early America.” In 1644, a combined force of Dutch and English colonists attacked a Native American village in present-day Westchester County, New York. It was one of the deadliest attacks on the indigenous people on the Atlantic Coast. A discussion and Q&A will follow the screening.This program will take place in Room C on the 3rd Floor of the Library.
