Light Needed at Franklin and Broadway

• Bookmarks: 92

July 17, 2020

To the Editor:

I am writing to you as a student and a concerned citizen of Tarrytown. I feel strongly there should be a light at the corner of Broadway and East Franklin Street in front of Washington Irving. If there is a light, it will make less work for the crossing guards. They are great but sometimes cars going north don’t see them and try to bypass cars turning left onto West Franklin. Many kids are picked up or dropped off at this intersection and are at risk of getting hit. I myself almost got hit once or twice and my dad did too when he was walking back after dropping me off.

Another idea would be a speed bump but I feel a traffic light would be better because someone could manage when the light is on and off at busy times.
