Tree of Lights Ceremony Slated at Phelps

• Bookmarks: 42

December 3, 2015

Each December, the friends and relatives of those who received the services of the Phelps Hospice during their final days gather at the Phelps Memorial Hospital cafeteria to remember their late loved ones. The gathering, which will be held this year on Sunday, December 13 at 4:30 p.m., includes remarks by members of the Hospice team, both professionals and volunteers, as well as by Dan Blum, the hospital’s CEO. A member of the family of one of those who passed away this year will share some of his poetry. Music will be provided by the Sleepy Hollow High School Select Chorus under the direction of Gail Persad, with Simon Boyar on Marimba. As has been the tradition for more than a decade in which the Tree of Lights ceremony has been held, the assembled will move outside the hospital’s west wing to witness the lighting of the Tree of Lights itself at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Phelps Hospice has provided at-home care for the dying in Westchester for more than 30 years, funded largely by public contributions. Those who wish to purchase a light in memory or honor of someone can contact the Phelps Hospice at 914-366-3325 or donate online at www.phelpshospital.org/tree-of-lights.
