May 1, 2026

The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) is presenting a full month of Pride  programming this June. Building on their monthly Out There series the Burns is celebrating with a special Out There: Pride Edition featuring a mix of films, Q&As, and community events–free and ticketed including:

Thursday, June 4 at 7:00
Pride Month at the JBFC kicks off with a screening of the new British comedy-drama Departures, featuring a pre-recorded Q&A with the filmmakers Neil Ely and Lloyd Eyre-Morgan. A must-see British comedy-drama created by a collective of working-class LGBT+ filmmakers, it is a darkly comic, emotionally charged, raw and raucous story about the dizzying highs of love and the crushing lows of heartbreak. Followed by a post-screening happy hour at the on-site Take 3 Wine Bar & Café.

Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00
Presenting a rare 35mm print of Carol, Todd Haynes’ Cannes-winning film based on Patricia Highsmith’s seminal queer novel The Price of Salt. Beautifully shot on 35mm by legendary cinematographer Edward Lachman, Carol features Academy Award nominated performances from Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, the latter of whom received the award for Best Actress at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Notably, this print is the only one currently in circulation and is being loaned to the Burns by its cinematographer, Edward Lachman.

Saturday, June 20 at 1:00
A free Drag Queen Story Time with Dee Dee, welcoming families for an inclusive and joyful community event. This event is free to the public and suitable for ages 4+.

Monday, June 22 & Thursday, June 25
Two screenings of I Carry You with Me: This first fiction feature from award-winning documentary filmmaker Heidi Ewing (Folktales) is an intimate epic, following a gay partnership beyond borders and against all odds. Winner of two prizes at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, the film was praised in The New York Times for how it “understands immigrant longing as more complex and elusive than economic imperative.”  It screens as a collaboration between Out There: Pride and JBFC series Immigration Nation.

Thursday, June 25 from 5:00 onwards
The annual Pride Parking Lot Party returns with food trucks, a bar, photo booth, drag queens, and more. The party starts at the JBFC Media Arts Lab Parking lot (405 Manville Road, Pleasantville 10570) from 5:00-7:00pm. Ticket price includes access to the 25th anniversary screening of Hedwig & the Angry Inch at the JBFC Theater (around the corner at 364 Manville Road) at 7:00.

Friday, June 26 at 7:00
Don’t miss the Burns’ first LGBTQ+ stand-up comedy night in Take 3 Wine Bar & Café. Whether you’re part of the community or just love great comedy, expect an inclusive atmosphere where everyone’s invited to laugh loud and proud. The event will be followed by an encore late-night screening of Departures.

Tuesday, June 30 at 7:00
The JBFC closes out the month with a screening of Outerlands, a 2026 Independent Spirit Award nominee, followed by an in-person Q&A with Asia Kate Dillon (Orange Is the New Black, Billions) and director/writer Elena Oxman. Outerlands follows Cass, a gig worker in San Francisco balancing multiple jobs. When their crush asks them to watch her daughter, what starts as temporary childcare evolves into an unexpected journey of self-discovery and healing.
