Leading the fundraising pack of 525 registered participants in the annual Northwell Walk to Raise Health at Westchester, held on Sunday, May 17, was a team of radiology professionals who—all by themselves—raised $25,800 out of the nearly $90,000 in donations. The leader of the pack calling itself the “Imaging Avengers” was Phelps imaging specialist Laura Cafarchio-Altieri, who—all by herself—raised over $4,000.
The walk, which takes place across six locations in the county, pulled in over $1.3 million. The money will be used in support of three Northwell initiatives:
*the Integrated Health Department at Northern Westchester Hospital where holistic nurses apply acupuncture, clinical aromatherapy, reflexology, Reiki and therapeutic suggestion/guided imagery to prevent burnout and promote overall wellbeing for both patients and staff;
*community paramedicine program at Phelps Hospital, which is working with the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps to bring high-quality medical care directly into the home in conjunction with trained paramedics for those who face difficulties accessing a hospital or clinic;
* Phelps Hospital Caregivers Center, which provides emotional support and crisis intervention for caregivers and connects them to external supports.
Donations can be made up to June 6th.
