Sr. Clare McBrien

Sr. Clare (Sr. Jerome) McBrien (87) died January 26, 2023 at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY. Born in New York City, NY, to Samuel and Maureen Devaney McBrien. She had been a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 68 years.         

She taught at St. Anne’s School, Garden City, NY, and served as principal of St. Colette’s School, Rolling Meadows, IL, Marymount International School, Rome, Italy.

She spent 36 years in Southwest Virginia, working in community development and educating about ecology and sustainability.

She is predeceased by her parents and by her sister Catherine Shine and brother Stephen McBrien; survived by her sister, Frances McBrien, and her nieces, Marie McBrien and Elizabeth Shine, and by the members of her religious community.

Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Monday, January 30, 4:00 – 7:00 pm with Vigil Service 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday January 31, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.

We ask all non-RSHM attending to please wear a mask.

We invite you to join us for the live-streamed Vigil Service and Mass on our website (www.rshm-east.org) where they will be archived.
