2015-HI-June-Horseman-Run-2The Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns will hold its 2nd Annual Horseman Color Run 2015 on Saturday, June 20. The Foundation seeks to augment the school’s budget by raising funds for special projects to benefit the schools and students. Not only the Foundation, but so many others, work together to ensure that the young people who attend the Tarrytown Schools have the best opportunities possible.

This year, the Foundation is fundraising to help the Middle School Recess Redesign Committee, supported by the PTA, create multiple activities and different environments that will draw all students outside year-round. Students need a space where they can play, socialize and feel good about coming together during free time.

HORSEMAN-RACE-GIRLThe 5k run includes shorter races (1/2 mile and mile) for younger ages and a FUN FAIR for all!  Runners will be sprayed with colors along the race route to make this an event like no other.  Of course, the paint is made out of corn starch so it is harmless to runners and washes out.

For those who wish to take part, click on “Register to Run” on the website (horsemancolorrun@gmail.com). Students run for $20, and adult registration is $40. After you register you can set up your profile and fundraising page, and you can upload photos as well!  Be sure to send it to friends and family so that they can support your efforts.

This fundraising event benefits the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns and is supported by the PTA. According to Shelly Colley, the Foundation’s Director, “What makes this event so special is that we have created an event that so many in our community can participate in. And last year nearly 400 runners (and walkers) participated — all ages, all fitness levels, and everyone interested in supporting the Foundation’s mission to provide the highest standards of education for all of our students.”

P.4-Horseman-RaceThere will be special parking instructions for this event so check the website for later details. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the first race begins at 9:30 a.m. For more information,  see the event’s website. www.HorsemanColorRun.comor contact Andrea Morse at 917-570-8144, HorsemanColorRun@gmail.com).
