Posh Pretzels – Tarrytown’s Newest Taste Treat

• Bookmarks: 88

May 7, 2015

PoshPretzels_2Anyone with a discerning sweet tooth who enjoys the delectable combination of “salty, crunchy and sweet” will want to visit Posh Pretzel for a taste of Anne Marie D’Erasmo’s chic creations. She makes her handcrafted treats in-house with high quality French and Belgian chocolates in a large variety of flavors and covered in so many differing toppings, it’s hard to make choices.

Tarrytown resident D’Erasmo had been creating her specialties for over 10 years then took a break to raise her two children. But, friends continued to ask for her signature pretzels and chocolate-dipped fruits. So, when the store with her favorite awning became available on North Broadway, she jumped at the chance to open her own retail shop. The hot pink sign plus hot pink and white interior says it all – posh indeed!

Inside customers will find dark, milk and white chocolate dipped pretzels decorated with numerous toppings to delight anyone’s tastes; oreo, Reese’s pieces, toffee crunch, mint chocolate chip, sea salt caramel and toasted coconut are D’Erasmo’s signature. But, she is constantly inventing new flavor offerings such as lemon, strawberry, and white raspberry fudge. “Customers get used to their favorites,” she notes,” which I always try to keep in stock for them. When I experiment with different flavors and toppings, customers let me know what they like, give suggestions. We experiment; you could spend forever coming up with different flavorings.” And, she constantly rotates her offerings with the help of her 7th grade daughter, Alexandra, who works on weekends.

poshpretzelsPretzels aren’t the only indulgence D’Erasmo creates. Her Poshmallow, a marshmallow dipped in caramel and toffee, then chocolate, is a specialty. As are her graham crackers covered in dark or white chocolate, or mint, cinnamon and key lime flavors – all beautifully embellished. Try a chocolate covered potato chip for the perfect salty, crunchy and sweet taste experience.

Custom orders include ice cream cone platters: cones dipped and decorated for birthday parties. Her “spoon full of cookie dough” is another popular specialty: a bite-sized dollop of eggless cookie dough filled with pretzel pieces and placed in an edible chocolate spoon decorated with a variety of nuts. For Passover she created holiday platters of matzo hand-dipped in various chocolates and complemented with fruits and nuts.

Custom orders of Posh Pretzels are popular for bridal showers, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, communions and confirmation. And, event planners have found D’Erasmo’s product a welcome addition to their party options. Gift boxes in multiple sizes are available in the store, and customers from around the world love to stop by and take them home to their country or state of origin (plus enjoy on the plane along the way!). D’Erasmo sends gift boxes and platters to college students and will be offering small hat boxes filled with her artisanal treats for Mother’s Day. Her creations even made an appearance in the Oscar swag bags – all black and gold and covered in edible glitter.
