Irvington Girl Scouts to Celebrate Centennial

• Bookmarks: 197 • Comments: 1

March 9, 2024

March 10th–16th is National Girl Scout Week, and this year marks the Irvington Girl Scouts’ Centennial Celebration. On Tuesday, March 12th, the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, the Irvington Village Hall clock tower and the tower at the Church of St. Barnabas (where Isabel K. Benjamin, who brought Girl Scouting to the village, worshipped) will all be lit up in green.

Additionally, the middle school and high school girls are painting the rock green on Sunday after the musical Newsies. Girls are working on celebrations and announcements at Main Street School and Dows Lane. Irvington’s troops will gather in Matthiessen Park at 7:00 p.m. for a group photo to commemorate the event. In the spirit of Isabel K. Benjamin, the scouts are collecting clean, used blankets and towels during the gathering to donate to Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford.
