Expanded COVID-19 Testing at CVS and Walgreens? Not Yet, and Not Here

• Bookmarks: 29

May 3, 2020

Reports that CVS and Walgreens are both offering expanded testing for COVID-19 do not apply to local branches of the two national chains.

According to the Daily Voice and other online news publications, Walgreens will be establishing free drive-through nasal testing, while CVS is offering on-line appointments to receive self-swab tests. What these reports did not make clear, however, is when and where.

According to the web sites of each of these pharmacy chains, these expanded tests are being offered in a limited number of states and outlets—but not in New York State. Pharmacists at the CVS on South Broadway and the Walgreens on Wildey Street in Tarrytown confirmed that they are not offering such testing and have not been told when such testing will be available at their pharmacies.
