Think about how important your teeth are. Not only do they play a central role in eating, speaking and emoting, they also give you one of your most powerful assets — your smile.
The normal adult mouth has 32 teeth that are as unique as your fingerprints. But like other areas of the body, they are subject to diseases and malformations that may require professional help. New on the Tarrytown dental scene is Dr. Rohit Patel, owner of Broadway Cosmetic Dentistry, a full-service dental practice with a singular mission: helping patients create and maintain a healthy set of teeth.
“My team and I specialize in dental makeovers designed to improve the appearance of a person’s smile,” said Dr. Patel. “We treat patients as individuals, addressing their particular problems and providing a full range of dental specialties. So, whether they need a checkup, a filling, teeth replaced, or cosmetic procedures, it can all be performed conveniently at our office.”
Broadway Cosmetic Dentistry utilizes modern dental technologies to diagnose and treat a wide range of oral conditions such as gum disease, tooth extractions, root canals, crowns, and metal-free dentistry. Explained Dr. Patel, “Many of our patients are unaware that there is an alternative to traditional braces, which have always been a great way of improving a person’s smile. But now there are a number of options available, such as clear aligners and modern esthetic braces that can usually straighten the teeth in about 12 months, compared to an average of 24 months required for metal braces.”
Cosmetic dentistry is growing in popularity, with more people than ever opting for such procedures as dental veneers, teeth whitening, and implants. Besides enhancing a person’s smile, cosmetic dentistry can correct aesthetic flaws — concealing or correcting various concerns including stains, misshapen teeth, proportionately small teeth, cracks, chips, gapped teeth, ragged gum lines, and more. “The result,” notes Dr. Patel, “is that patients will often experience a younger, healthier look that will go a long way in building confidence.”
A Commitment to Overall Health
Dr. Patel came to the United States from his native India in 1975. He attended Columbia University School of Dental Medicine where he received both graduate and postgraduate degrees. He was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Dentistry at Columbia University’s Department of Endodontics until 1983, and started in private practice in 1979.
Broadway Cosmetic Dentistry in Tarrytown, which opened in June 2018, is part of Dr. Patel’s expansion project, marking the third location he currently operates, with other practices in Mt. Vernon and Brewster. He has recently welcomed a new member to his team of specialists. “I’m happy to say that my daughter, Amrita, is now part of my practice, focusing on restorative and cosmetic dentistry. She comes to us from New York University College of Dentistry but her undergraduate studies were done right here — at the former Marymount College. My family knows this town very well, as we live only 15 minutes away,” said Dr. Patel.
Research has shown that good oral health plays a key role in good bodily health, a fact not lost on Dr. Patel.
“My practice has twin goals: to educate patients on the importance of good oral hygiene; and to place an emphasis on preventive dentistry, so that patients need minimal treatments,” he said.
