Carlos Alberto Simbana, of Irvington, passed away peacefully on June 25 at his home in Mount Pleasant, SC, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. He was 52.
Carlos was born February 15, 1971, in Cuenca, Ecuador, to Manuel and Elvira (Pinos) Simbana. After completing high school in Ecuador, Carlos came to the United States and earned a degree from Westchester Community College before realizing his goal of starting his own successful business, Sleepy Hollow Window Cleaning.
Carlos married the love of his life, Melissa Fazzino, on July 26, 2002, at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, NY. He was a loving and devoted father to his children, Ariela and Luca. He dedicated his life to caring and providing for his wife and children. Even during his illness, he encouraged his children to be positive, courageous, and resilient.
An avid traveler, Carlos cherished experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. From Spain to Hawaii to the Grand Cayman Islands, he made friends wherever he went, passing his love of adventure on to Ariela and Luca.
A sports enthusiast, Carlos excelled at many sports, including soccer, tennis, skiing, and mountain biking. He encouraged a love for sport in his children, and was their number one fan, never missing a sporting event.
Carlos will be remembered for his kind and beautiful spirit, positive outlook, healthy lifestyle, and honest work ethic.
Carlos is survived by his soulmate, Melissa, daughter Ariela, and son Luca. Also surviving are his mother, Elvira, and four siblings, Maria Rosario, Francisco, Maria Eugenia and Milton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Adis Fazzino, sister-in-law, Michelle Fazzino, and brother-in-law Frank Fazzino.
