William Luney, 80

William Ross Luney, a resident of Tarrytown, died April 3. He was 80.

Mr. Luney was raised in Peoria, Illinois served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1956. He began his legal career at Sullivan and Cromwell in New York City and went on to serve as legal counsel for Bristol-Myers Squibb until his retirement as vice president and secretary of the corporation. He then practiced privately for the next decade.

Mr. Luney was a longtime member and had been chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Tarrytown. He was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, where he served a president from 1978 to 1980. He had also been a member of the New York Athletic Club.
