Irma Del Monaco, 84
Irma Di Mascio Del Monaco, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died January 18. She was 84.
She was born on January 31, 1931 in Petterano Sul Gizio, Italy to Frank and Louisa Di Mascio. On February 16, 1958, she married Raffaele Del Monaco in Italy and they came to the United States in 1966.
Mrs. Del Monaco was a seamstress for John Charles, LTD in Tarrytown for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband; children Regina (Joseph) Tucci, Peter (Suzanne) Del Monaco and James (Diane) Del Monaco; grandchildren Ashley Nicole, Peter Michael, John Joseph, Briana, Alyssa, Gabriella and Nicholas; and her great-grandson Mason Anthony. She is also survived by her brothers Americo and Silvano Di Mascio and her sister Dora Del Monaco.
Miriam Edwards, 87
Miriam V. Edwards, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died January 9. She was 87.
Born in North Tarrytown on June 12, 1928, she graduated from high school, went on to college and in 1952, she married John J. Edwards in St. Teresa’s Church. In addition to raising her 10 children she was a secretary at St. Teresa’s Church for many years where she was a parishioner and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She had also been a member of the Old Mill Singers and had also been a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her children John D. of Valhalla, Kenneth of Sleepy Hollow, Ann of N. Carolina, Joseph of Poughkeepsie, Robert of Las Vegas, NV, Maryann Hoblock of Patterson, NY, Christopher of Las Vegas, NV and Janet Fanzolgher of Brewster. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her sister Ann Dunn of Sleepy Hollow and many nieces, nephews, grand- nieces and grand-nephews.
Agnes Martin, 87
Agnes Martin, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died January . She was 87.
Mrs. Martin was born on May 22, 1928 to Charles and Helen Girvan Herrion in Yonkers. She worked for many years as the secretary at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown. She was an active member of the Tarrytown Seniors as well as the Transfiguration Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband Roger W. Martin on January 3, 2014.
She is survived by her son Roger W. Martin Jr. of New Fairfield, CT and her daughter Ellen Martin of Niskayuna, NY. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Kristin, Kelly, Katie and Christopher Martin.
Olga Toth, 85
Olga Mary Toth, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, died January 16, in Tallahassee, FL. She was 85.
She was born in North Tarrytown to Bernat and Anna Meszaros Superak. On October 30, 1949, she married Gustav P. Toth, who predeceased her. She was a proud graduate of North Tarrytown High School and was a member and past president of the Washington Engine Co. No.2 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also the former proprietor of the Set Back Inn in Tarrytown.
Mrs. Toth is survived by her sons J. Scott Toth (Jody) of Tarrytown and Jeffrey S. Toth (Joanne) of Tallahassee, FL. Also surviving are her five grandchildren Scott, Matthew, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Samantha and her great-grandchildren Declan, Tierney, Gus, Nora and Fiona. In addition she is survived by her loving niece Pamela Rifenberg, great niece Jill Swanson and Jill’s daughters Elyssa, Erika and Hallie Swanson.
Raymond DeLuca, 91
Raymond DeLuca, a longtime Irvington resident, died January 11. He was 91.
Born and raised in the Bronx, he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific. Upon returning he met, courted and married the love of his life Irene on February 12, 1950. After taking a ride in the country, they came upon Irvington and moved into a new development overlooking the Hudson River. Now calling Irvington their home, they proudly raised their family. Mr. DeLuca worked in the garment district of New York City for Revillon Furs until retirement. He was an active member of the community, particularly interested in coaching and mentoring children. He was an avid golfer well into his retirement. He was a member of the Irvington Seniors and enjoyed the company of all his friends.
Mr. DeLuca is survived by his children Bob (Rosemary) DeLuca and Ivy (Doug) Morgan, grandchildren Michael, Christine, David and Kent and great-granddaughter Leila. He was predeceased by his wife Irene on June 4, 2014.
