Rocco Martello, 66
Rocco A. Martello, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died April 2. He was 66.
He graduated from St. Teresa’s School, Stepinac High School and Westchester Community College. He had a long career with the United States Postal Service and retired as a supervisor in White Plains.
On September 24, 1983, he married Diane McEnroe in Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY. She predeceased him on February 5, 2009. Mr. Martello was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department having been a member of Union Hose Company #2 where he had been captain for many years and had served as president for many years. He was also a member of the Westchester County Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
He is survived by his children Joseph, Maria and Angela all of Sleepy Hollow, as well as his brother Sal of Stamford, CT.
Gertrude Guisti, 90
Gertrude Guisti, a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, died April 18. She was 90.
Born in North Tarrytown on December 15, 1925, many people may remember Gertrude from the Hot Dog Wagon she operated on Valley Street across from the former Frank’s Chevrolet. She had been a member of the Tarrytown Seniors, the Senior Nutrition Program and the Transfiguration Seniors. She loved bingo, playing poker and especially loved trips to Atlantic City.
She is survived by her daughter Anna Whited of Largo, FL and her grandchildren Bruce Whited of Tarrytown and Donna Naples of Seminole, FL. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Michael, Brittany and Caitlyn Whited and her great-great grandson Graham Whited.
