Snow Fall Hits Record, Causes Power Outages, Blocked roads, Closings
Limbs snapped, branches broken, trees fallen, roads blocked, downed wires, power outages and school closings; all the result of the huge storm that dumped record-breaking amounts of snow in the region. Tarrytown, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow were not spared, but Tarrytown appeared to be hit with the greatest loss of electric power.

Con Ed reported more than 7,000 homes and businesses in Tarrytown Sleepy Hollow were without power. Some outages within the three villages lingered into the weekend. Some 25 streets within the Town of Greenburgh were still not plowed the morning after the last snowflakes drifted earthward, according to Supervisor Paul Feiner. Downed wires were the reason, he said. He had warned that cars left on roadways that hampered plowing could be towed.
At midday Friday, there were approximately 36,500 customer outages in Westchester County, according to Con Ed. The company said at that point it had already restored power to 7,000 homes and businesses that had been affected since the storm began. Crews were brought in to help from utilities as far away as Ohio, it said
