Ronald DelMoro, 61

Ronald A. DelMoro, director of the Lower School at Hackley School since 2002, died August 16 during emergency surgery. He was 61.

“Ron was one of the finest men and most exceptional educators I have known,” Hackley Headmaster Walter Johnson said. “His love and joy in life have joined him to Hackley forever. We will miss him more than we can say.”

Prior to joining Hackley, Mr. DelMoro worked for 32 years in the Yorktown school system as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. A devoted New York Yankees fan, he was also the voice of Hackley football home games.

Alma Brideau, 101

Alma DeLagarde Brideau, a former resident of Tarrytown and Ossining, died July 21 in Vero Beach, Florida. She was 101.

She worked at White Plains Hospital for 42 years, retiring in 1971.

Frieda Engelmann, 105

Frieda Engelmann, a resident of Tarrytown since 1937, died July 31. She was 105.

She was born in Berlin, Germany and came to the United States in 1929 with her family. She worked as a medical receptionist with the Sleepy Hollow Medical Group for 27 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Tarrytown Seniors and the Leisure Club of Tarrytown.

Keith Fogerty, 53

Keith R. Fogerty, a resident of Irvington, died August 14. He was 53.

Herbert Ranzinger, 79

Herbert A. Ranzinger, formerly of Tarrytown and more recently of Sleepy Hollow, died July 25. He was 79.

He was an executive with Union Carbide for many years. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Lutz), of Sleepy Hollow.


Margaret Sellers, 86

Margaret Sellers, who was born in North Tarrytown, died August 12 at her residence in Croton-on-Hudson. She was 86.

She graduated from North Tarrytown High School and shortly thereafter went to work for Mr. and Mrs. Goldberg of Tarrytown for many years. The Goldberg’s became her second family as she lovingly cared for them and their children. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Tarrytown and was also a member of many social organizations.
